ENGAGE GRANT AWARDED TO PROFESSOR BRUNO BOUCHARD AND HIS TEAM AT UNIVERSITÉ DU QUÉBEC À CHICOUTIMI
A collaborator since October 2012, SOVAR is proud to announce that Professor Bruno Bouchard and his team have been awarded $25,000 in funding from the Natural Science and Engineering Research Council of Canada’s Engage Program. Professor Bouchard works at the Department of Computer Science and Mathematics at the Université du Québec à Chicoutimi. The support will allow the researcher to establish a partnership with Protection E.M. Inc., a company based in Sainte-Marie-de-Beauce.
The six-month project will provide advanced expertise to the company in the area of ambient intelligence and cognitive support technologies developed over the past several years by Professor Bouchard’s group. This will help Protection E.M. develop the next generation of SAFECOOK TM, a smart device that aims at ensuring the safe operation of stoves by persons who are losing their independence, coping with cognitive issues or suffering from Alzheimer’s.
