DR. LUCIE GERMAIN AND HER TEAM RECEIVE $532,801 IN FUNDING FROM MEIE AND A PRIVATE PARTNER

Partner in the development of the project for over two years, SOVAR is proud to announce that Professor Lucie Germain, Scientific Coordinator for the CHU de Québec’s Experimental Organogenesis Laboratory (LOEX), and her team have received $300,000 in funding from the Ministère de l’Économie, de l’Innovation et des Exportations (the province of Quebec’s Ministry for the Economy, Innovation and Exports). This funding comes under the ministry’s Programme de soutien à la valorisation et au transfert, PSVT-volet 2B (component 2B of the Development and Transfer Support Program) and is paired with a $232,801 contribution from Héma-Québec.

The project, which is of crucial importance for the improvement of care for severely burned victims, stems from research at LOEX that has enabled the bi-lamellar reconstruction of skin through tissue engineering. This funding as well as Héma-Québec collaboration and contribution will accelerate the development and commercialization of the technology for the greater benefit of patients.
