Researcher Luc Beaulieu receives $124,000 NSERC I2I grant

Québec, May 2, 2017 – SOVAR takes pride in announcing that Luc Beaulieu, a researcher at the CHU de Québec research centre, has secured funding of $124,000. Professor Beaulieu is also a faculty member of Université Laval’s Department of Physics, Engineering Physics and Optics. This support comes from the Idea to Innovation (I2I) Program of the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC) and will be used to develop a new prototype for a multipoint scintillation dosimeter for radiotherapy. SOVAR has been involved in the advanced development of this project since January 2016.

The technology will enable real-time multi-point simultaneous read-outs of the radiation dose thanks to a single plastic optical fiber small and flexible enough to be inserted inside catheters used for brachytherapy.
